Characterization of depression during a pandemic in the medical personnel of Zacapa

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: to determine the levels of depression and indicate the triggers that affect cognition in medical personnel in times of the "COVID 19" pandemic. METHOD: a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out in 74 doctors working in the department of Zacapa. RESULTS: it was shown that the age range with the highest frequency was from 31 to 40 years with 37.8% (N = 28), as for the predominant gender was female with 51.4% (N = 38), the professionals indicated in Most of them be married in 59.4% (N = 44), and the majority work in a public institution with 48.6% (N = 36). The incidence of depression at a moderate-severe level was the predominant one with 59.45% (N = 44) which was determined by the test of the 9 symptoms of depression PHQ 9. CONCLUSION: the triggering factor that had the greatest relevance was work overload that is related to moderate severe depression with a p value less than 0.0011357 being statistically significant.
