Abstract

OBJECTIVE: to describe the executive functions from the neuropsychological perspective. METHOD: theoretical construction from literature review. RESULTS: the neuropsychological characteristics of the prefrontal cortex and its implications in the development of executive functions, alterations and associated disorders were demonstrated. CONCLUSION: The frontal lobe of the human brain, specifically the prefrontal area, is responsible for planning behavior and more complex functions such as executive functions.

Jackelline del Rosario Lepe Grajeda, Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala

He has a degree in Clinical Psychology, specialization in Child and Adolescent Neurodevelopment, he is dedicated to higher education and private clinic care for patients with neurodevelopmental and neurocognitive disorders, currently mastering the Master's Degree in Neuroscience with an emphasis on Neurocognition at the University Center of Zacapa.

Elvis Romeo Franco Garzo, Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala

He has a degree in Criminology and Criminal Policy, he has dedicated himself to the investigation of deviant behavior within the criminal branch. An international diploma in Ballistic Fingerprints and an international diploma in personality disorders dependent on criminal acts. Currently teaching the Master's Degree in Neuroscience with an emphasis on Neurocognition at the University Center of Zacapa.

Vilma Ester de la Cruz Sierra, Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala

She has a degree in Clinical Psychology, has dedicated herself to higher education and to the training and orientation of regular teachers in Inclusive education, being in charge of a Resource Center for Inclusive Education -CREI- of the Ministry of Education. Currently teaching the Master's Degree in Neuroscience with an emphasis on Neurocognition at the University Center of Zacapa.
