Abstract

Neurosciences have played a very important role since the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, in the study of human behavior and psychological trauma, currently there are very powerful tools such as neuroimaging to observe brain activity in real time, These allow us to observe the electrical and / or chemical activity of the brain areas that promote or not the regulation of emotionality and behavior. A review and collection of information was carried out on the latest studies carried out based on reliable sources of consultation. EMDR therapy is a psychotherapeutic model, it was discovered and developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro, in 1987. It consists of 8 phases: 1. History 2. Preparation 3. Evaluation 4. Desensitization 5. Installation 6. Body check 7. Closure and 8 Re-evaluation (Shapiro, 2017). It includes a protocol of the three aspects: Past - Present - Future. Recently, important data have been published from research results showing the change in the activation of brain areas before, during and after EMDR therapy. Promoting the relief of human suffering generated by psychological trauma.
